CHILDREN'S CLASSES: Students dropped off more than 10 minutes early or picked up more than 10 minutes late will be charged for childcare. Children picked up after childcare ends will be charged $1 per minutes.

SCHOLARSHIPS:Scholarships are available to those who qualify. Contact us for a scholarship form.

TAX ADVANTAGE:Class fees for children and youth 5 & up may qualify for state tax deduction.

REFUNDS, CHARGES, & CANCELLATIONS: Full refunds will be given if you cancel two wees before a class begins. No refunds will be issued after that time. There is a $20 charge for checks returned due to insufficient funds. There are no membership refunds. We will notify you ONLY if your class is canceled. Class cancellations will be determined three days before first class. You are welcome to call and check the status of your class.

INFO ABOUT SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN ART CAMPS: We have Half-Day/Full-Day Options for many classes. Each week offers a different subject for camp goers. Curricula include separate programming for morning and afternoon camps. Camps are open to PreK (age 4) and up through sixth grade unless otherwise indicated. Smaller enrollment may dictate combined classes. Note: All students—bring a snack. Full-day students—bring lunch and two snacks. If preferred, ArtiCulture offers snacks for .75 each. Extended care option on registration form. Grade indicates fall 2011 and must be age 4 or older.

Million Little Monsters

Let’s brainstorm oodles of ideas from dreams and imaginations and compile a master list of oddities onto a monstrous sheet ofpaper. Then collectively we’ll fill this entire sheet with thousands of mini pictures! When the mega art piece is full of tiny art andideas, each student takes it home in pieces as handmade books, wall art, school folders, coasters, jewelry and more!

Parents' Night Out/Kids' Arty Party In

Length: 
1 night

Parents can get an adult night out--by letting the kids have an Arty Party In! Kids age 5 to 11 can take over ArtiCulture and have three and a half hours of art-driven fun with an ArtiCulture teacher. Kids will be able to use their creative energies in multiple media to create projects defined by their imagination. Parents can use the opportunity to go to a movie, a performance, a nice restaurant, or whatever.

Tattoos & Graffiti - Is it ART?

Often viewed negatively, what actually can make tattoo art and graffiti pleasing? Ideas and content in relation to artistic expression will be examined—graffiti transformed from criminal past to accepted urban art, when art is appropriate or offensive, and how some tattoo concepts go beyond skin deep. Focus will be design, pattern, line, shade, color theory, symmetry, movement, and texture through drawing, ink, paint and paper. Note to parents: No tattooing will take place in or through this class.

The Creative Self

Discover your “Artist within” in this self-exploratory class. For artists and non-artists alike, this class is an opportunity to experience the satisfaction of artistic creation while also letting loose, experimenting and having fun. Creative Cards

Length:

Sending hand written notes has become an art form—go a step further by creating the actual card. This fine art stationery is functional, beautiful, and easy to make at home. Create striking designs using simple methods and techniques. Students will takehome awesome cards ready for use and a detailed hand-carved personal reusable stamp or “chop”! Sumi-e Brush Painting

Length:

Learn the principles and techniques of the ancient tradition of Sumi-e ink Painting. Returning students will continue and learn next steps. Participants will work on basic brush strokes needed to paint bamboo, orchid, people, and landscape. Controlling water and ink on sensitive Asian paper is key to being expressive using an artisan brush. Note: No previous experience is required. Materials fee $25 payable first day of class.

Felted Vessels, Vases & Bowls

Learn the art of seamless 3-D wet felting! Using wool and a variety of natural fibers, felt a small vessel to hold trinkets, chocolates or to simply brighten up any shelf. Choose bright or natural colors, then “sculpt” your vessel into any shape from organic to contemporary. A duel aesthetic is also possible by making it reversible. Felted Tote Bag

Learn the art of traditional wet feltmaking. No knitting required, create a seamless felted tote bag from colorful wool fibers.
