ArtiCulture's Internship Program

Each summer from mid-June through the end of August, interns have the opportunity to work side-by-side with professional artists in an educational setting. Interns will have first-hand knowledge of teaching philosophies and curriculum development, while gaining valuable experience in a non-profit arts setting. Responsibilities include helping with the following: prep for classes, management of art supplies and general classroom organization. Interns will also assist in the classroom and oversee students during their lunches and break times.

Camps are 8am - 5:30pm, and are five days long. Interns are scheduled by the week (though not necessarily every week), and generally need to be able to stay for the full time, each day. Currently this is an unpaid internship, although interns may take adult art classes for free over the summer.

To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to info@articulture.org. We begin considering applicants on a rolling basis starting January 1st. We usually take on about six interns each summer.

We also use volunteer teaching assistants for School Release Days, Winter and Spring Break camps during the school year. About ArtiCulture:

ArtiCulture is a non-profit arts education organization offering visual arts classes and workshops for ages 1 year through adults. We also have on-going partnership projects that support community development through creativity as well as outreach programs that aim to increase accessibility to the visual arts. Benefits:

Interns will be a part of a growing Minneapolis art center that places emphasis on the creative process—the act of making art—over product. Interns may take some ArtiCulture classes free or at a reduced rate and also receive discounts on retail art supplies. Interns will gain valuable experience in the field of arts education.

Who should apply, and when?

ArtiCulture needs highly dedicated, self-motivated and focused individuals to assist art teachers and administrative staff. Recent graduates, college students or career-changers interested in learning about non-profit arts organizations, art education and community outreach are welcome to apply. Art majors and applicants who identify as artists will get preferential consideration.  Interns must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand or sit for extended periods. Some experience working with children is preferred. Intern must be available 20 or more hours/weekly.

There is no deadline to apply. We accept applications year round and keep them on file. Interviews begin in February.

Application Process:

After submitting a cover letter and resume you will get confirmation we've received the materials and will be considering them. If your interests and experience indicate our program would be a good opportunity for you, we'll contact you for an interview, in person if possible. Interviews begin in February and final decisions are usually made in early spring.
