In 2016, we crafted the Youth Arts Collaborative (YAC)– something we felt an increased need for since our first public art project back in 2009.
The Youth Arts Collaborative is a grant funded youth program that works in collaboration with communities to promote positive social change through the creation of community public art. Working side-by-side with lead artists and educators, the creative youth team produces engaging works of art that are meaningful to both the teens and the neighborhood. The three pillars of this program are to collaborate, create and impact community.
The YAC grew from the desire by teens involved with our earlier projects to establish an ongoing youth program that would enable continued commitment to public art programming.
A large range of teens join – some are artistic, others book smart, some are savvy with social networking, while others are predominantly interested in activism. No matter the skills they bring, the YAC is a safe and supportive place where youth have a voice in the issues that matter.
We are seeking youth, ages 14 to 19, who want to make a difference. Is that YOU? Learn more by contacting Liz at 612.729.5151, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please let any creative or activist minded youth in your life (ages 14 – 19) know of this new venture.
